Sabrina Kelley
Sabrina Kelley, 19, of Norwell, MA passed away
on April 3rd, 2015 from complications of her long battle with cystic fibrosis.
Sabrina was a graduate of Norwell High School, a freshman at the University of
Alabama and a proud member of the Pi Beta Phi sorority. She was more than a
best friend; everyone that ever met her knew that she was the light of their
life. Beautiful, genuine, hilarious and perfect, Sabrina was the best of all of
us. No one has ever been more loved than our Sabrina and no one has ever loved
more than our Sabrina. Fearless in her fight against cystic fibrosis she never
once asked “why me?” Instead she took every chance she had to spread happiness
to others. For 18 years, Sabrina’s Shootout was an annual reminder of the power
her love and her spirit could inspire raising over $400,000 for Children’s
Hospital Boston. She was the soul of our family, with my dad Brian, mother Pam
and myself forever grateful and forever thankful for the love she showed and
inspired in us. There has never been a more beautiful person, on the inside and
out, than Sabrina. “There are no happy endings. Endings are the saddest part,
so just give me a happy middle, and a very happy start.” Her spark will never
leave us and her love will forever live on. We love you Sabrina and we will
always be together, forever and always.
-Matthew Kelley, Maverick class of Fall 2012
Sabrina
Kelley, sister of active Wrangler Matthew Kelley, passed away after a 19-year battle
with cystic fibrosis. Many of us never had the privilege of meeting her, but those
of us that did always had glowing things to say about her.
“You
never saw her without a smile on her face. She would always have a positive
energy about her that made others feed off of it. She was a genuine, kind, and
caring person.”
“The best way to describe her was a selfless,
genuine human being. She never asked why she had this disease. She lived her
life to the fullest and made everyone around her happier. When I met her for
the first time I felt like she was the brighter light shining in the room. Just
the sweetest, most down-to-earth person I have ever met.”
“Sabrina was a beam of sunlight in everyone whose path she
crossed. We get up everyday and say: "Live today as Sabrina would.” We are
all better individuals because we had the honor to watch your courageous family
live each day to the fullest together.”
Sabrina
was truly an inspiration to us all. Her legacy will
live on through her philanthropic efforts as her and her family has raised over
$400,000 for the Boston Children’s Hospital over the span of 18 years.
There are not enough words to express her compassion, her strength, her
perseverance, and how much she will be missed. Our thoughts and prayers go out
to the Kelley Family. This Saturday, May 2nd,
we will be walking in San Antonio in memory of Sabrina to raise money for the
Cystic Fibrosis Foundation. Our fundraising goal is currently $1500, and with
your help we can raise even more. Click on Sabrina's picture above or the link below to donate, and
together we can find a cure for this terrible disease.
